Recipe for Grilled Sujuk Sausage

Spicy fermented sausages grilled until the skins are crispy and the centers are hot.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams sujuk sausage
  • 15 milliliters olive oil
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 onion

Preparation

  1. Slice the fermented sujuk sausage into rounds about one centimeter in thickness
  2. Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill to a medium high temperature
  3. Lightly brush the sausage slices with olive oil to prevent any sticking
  4. Grill the rounds for three minutes per side until the edges are crispy
  5. Warm the pita breads on the grill during the last two minutes
  6. Serve the hot sausages inside the bread with sliced tomato and onion

Tips

  • Sujuk has a high fat content so do not use too much oil
  • Grill the sausage until the fat starts to render and turn clear
  • Use a heavy weight to press the sausages for a more even char
