Recipe for a Perfect Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich

  • 2 slices sourdough bread

  • 60 grams sharp cheddar cheese
  • 40 grams gruyere cheese

Preparation

  1. Butter one side of each bread slice evenly
  2. Grate both cheeses and mix them together for an even melt
  3. Place one slice butter-side down in a cold pan
  4. Pile the cheese mixture high on the bread
  5. Top with the second slice butter-side up
  6. Cook over medium-low heat for 5 minutes per side until the bread is dark golden and the cheese has completely melted

Tips

  • Grate your own cheese rather than using pre-shredded packs for a smoother melt
