Recipe for Puff Pastry Cheese Sticks

These sticks are made by baking strips of puff pastry topped with cheese and salt.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams puff pastry
  • 1 egg
  • 100 grams parmesan cheese
  • 5 grams sea salt
  • 2 grams paprika

Preparation

  1. Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle on a floured work surface
  2. Brush the entire surface with a beaten egg to help the cheese stick
  3. Sprinkle the grated parmesan, sea salt, and paprika evenly over the top
  4. Cut the pastry into long strips about two centimeters wide with a knife
  5. Twist each strip and place them on a baking sheet with parchment paper
  6. Bake at 200 Celsius for 12 minutes until the sticks are puffed and golden

Tips

  • Keep the puff pastry very cold until the moment you are ready to bake it
  • Use a pizza cutter to get perfectly straight and even lines when cutting strips
  • Experiment with different types of hard cheese like pecorino for a more intense flavor
