Ingredients

Main Drink

  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • 2 tsp white granulated sugar
  • 60ml cachaça
  • 150g crushed ice

Preparation

Mixing

  1. Place the lime wedges and sugar into a sturdy rocks glass
  2. Use a muddler to press down firmly on the limes for 30 seconds to release the juice and essential oils from the peel
  3. Fill the glass to the brim with crushed ice
  4. Pour 60ml of cachaça over the ice and stir vigorously with a spoon for 15 seconds to dissolve the sugar

Tips

  • Roll the lime on the counter with your palm before cutting to soften the membranes and yield more juice
  • Use white granulated sugar rather than brown sugar to maintain the bright and clear aesthetic of the drink
  • Always use crushed ice instead of cubes to ensure the drink stays ice-cold and the dilution is balanced
