Recipe for Strawberry Pierogi Dumplings

These dough parcels are filled with fresh strawberries and served with a dollop of cream.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 500 grams flour
  • 250 milliliters warm water
  • 1 egg
  • 30 grams butter
  • 2 grams salt

Filling

  • 400 grams fresh strawberries
  • 50 grams sugar

Preparation

Dough

  1. Mix the flour, water, egg, butter, and salt to form a soft dough
  2. Knead for ten minutes and rest for thirty minutes under a clean cloth
  3. Roll the dough thin and cut into circles with a round cookie cutter

Cooking

  1. Slice the strawberries into small pieces if they are too large for circles
  2. Place one piece of fruit and a pinch of sugar on each circle
  3. Fold the dough over and press the edges together to seal the fruit
  4. Boil the dumplings in a pot of water until they float and simmer for two minutes

Tips

  • Use small strawberries whole if possible to keep the juice inside the dumpling dough
  • Do not add sugar to the berries too early as they will release liquid
  • Make sure the water is at a rolling boil before adding the first dumplings
