Recipe for Classic BLT
A classic BLT with crisp bacon, seasoned tomato, fresh lettuce, and toasted bread with mayonnaise.
Serves: 2 people (2 sandwiches)

Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 6–8 slices thick-cut bacon
- 1 large ripe tomato, sliced ¼-inch thick
- 4–6 leaves iceberg or butter/Bibb lettuce
- 4 slices white bread, sourdough, or milk bread
Supporting Ingredients
- 2–3 tbsp mayonnaise
Seasonings
- Flaky sea salt
- Freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Slice tomatoes, lay on paper towels, lightly salt, and rest for 10 minutes. Pat dry.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lay bacon flat on a lined baking sheet and bake 15–20 minutes until crisp. Drain on paper towels.
- Toast bread in a skillet with a small amount of bacon fat or butter, one side only, until golden.
- Place bread toasted-side out. Spread mayo on the soft sides. Layer lettuce, tomatoes (pepper to taste), then bacon. Close sandwich.
- Serve immediately.
Tips
- Always salt tomatoes.
- Keep lettuce against the bread to prevent sogginess.
- Break bacon strips for even coverage.
