Recipe for Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta

This pasta dish features a sauce made from tomatoes, cream, and fresh basil leaves.

Ingredients

  • 400 grams penne pasta
  • 800 grams canned tomatoes
  • 100 milliliters heavy cream
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 30 milliliters olive oil
  • 10 grams fresh basil
  • 50 grams parmesan cheese

Preparation

  1. Boil the pasta in salted water until it is al dente then drain
  2. Sauté the minced garlic in olive oil until it is very fragrant
  3. Add the tomatoes and simmer for fifteen minutes over a medium heat
  4. Stir in the heavy cream and let the sauce thicken for three minutes
  5. Toss the cooked pasta with the sauce and fresh basil leaves
  6. Serve hot with a sprinkle of grated parmesan cheese on the top

Tips

  • Use fresh basil leaves added at the very end for the best aroma
  • Stir the cream in slowly to prevent it from curdling in the sauce
  • Save a cup of pasta water to adjust the thickness of the sauce
