Recipe for Homemade Tater Tots
These potato snacks are made by shaping grated potatoes into cylinders and frying them.

Ingredients
- 1 kilogram potatoes
- 30 grams flour
- 5 grams salt
- 2 grams onion powder
- 500 milliliters vegetable oil
Preparation
- Peel and boil the potatoes for ten minutes until they are partially cooked
- Let the potatoes cool then grate them into a large mixing bowl
- Mix the grated potatoes with flour, salt, and the onion powder seasoning
- Shape the mixture into small cylinders using about one tablespoon of potato
- Heat the vegetable oil to 180 Celsius in a deep frying pan
- Fry the tots in batches for five minutes until golden and crispy
Tips
- Do not fully cook the potatoes before grating or they will become mushy
- Ensure the oil is hot before adding the tots to prevent oil absorption
- Drain the fried tots on a wire rack to keep them very crispy
