Recipe for Fresh Shrimp Ceviche

This seafood dish is prepared by marinating shrimp in citrus juices with onions and cilantro.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams raw shrimp, peeled
  • 150 milliliters lime juice
  • 50 milliliters lemon juice
  • 1 red onion, diced
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 1 jalapeno, minced
  • 10 grams fresh cilantro
  • 2 grams salt

Preparation

  1. Cut the raw shrimp into small bite sized pieces and place in bowl
  2. Pour the lime and lemon juices over the shrimp until fully covered
  3. Refrigerate for twenty minutes until the shrimp turns pink and firm
  4. Stir in the diced onion, cucumber, jalapeno, and chopped fresh cilantro
  5. Season with salt and toss the mixture to combine all the flavors
  6. Serve chilled in small glass bowls with corn tortilla chips on side

Tips

  • Use the freshest shrimp available since the citrus juice cooks the seafood protein
  • Do not marinate the shrimp for over one hour or they become tough
  • Serve immediately after mixing the vegetables to maintain a crisp and fresh texture
