Recipe for a Perfect Hard Boiled Egg

This snack is an egg boiled until the center and white are firm and fully cooked.

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 Liter water
  • 2 grams salt
  • 500 milliliters ice water

Preparation

  1. Place the egg in a saucepan and cover with 1 Liter of cold water
  2. Bring the water to a boil over high heat on the stove
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let the egg cook for nine minutes
  4. Prepare a bowl with ice and 500 milliliters of water for cooling
  5. Transfer the cooked egg to the ice water and let it sit for five minutes
  6. Peel the shell under cold running water to ensure a smooth surface

Tips

  • Older eggs are easier to peel than very fresh ones for this method
  • Start the eggs in cold water to prevent the shells from cracking from thermal shock
  • Do not overcook the egg beyond ten minutes to avoid a gray ring around the yolk
